Data Entry Jobs description
A data entry person compares data with source documents, or re-enters data in verification format to detect errors; and compiles, sorts, and verifies the accuracy of data before it is entered. A data entry person locates and corrects data entry errors, or reports them to supervisors and maintains logs of activities and completed work. A data entry person reads source documents such as canceled checks, sales reports, or bills, and enters data in specific data fields or onto tapes or disks for subsequent entry, using keyboards or scanners. A data entry person must load machines with required input or output media such as paper, cards, disks, tape or Braille media; resolve garbled or indecipherable messages, using cryptographic procedures, and equipment. A data entry person should select materials needed to complete work assignments and store completed documents in appropriate locations.A data entry person should have a high school education or bachelor’s degree along with experience of computer operations (MS Office). Knowledge of Foxpro and Internet would be an advantage. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures is important. A data entry person generally requires a speed of minimum 30 wpm. A data entry person should have ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
