Transcription Jobs
A transcription person is a language specialist who interprets and transcribes dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient assessment, workup, therapeutic procedures, clinical course, diagnosis, prognosis, etc., in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of healthcare services. A transcription person compiles electronic health record from paper charts; does manual entry of patient’s medication and allergies from the paper chart into the electronic health record; and gets physician approval of medications entered. A transcription person follows up with doctor with incomplete dictation; manages cross training of new staff assigned; maintains consistent quality, effectively delegate work and assess individual performance to improve productivity; and coordinates workflow and recruitment of team members. A transcription person also performs other duties as assigned.
A transcription person should have a high school degree and some college education is preferred. Certification and two years experience in transcription may be an advantage. A transcription person should be familiar with standard relevant concepts, practices, and procedures. A transcription person should have computer literacy and ability to work in a Windows environment. A transcription person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
