The Actuarial Provider Strategy (APS) team provides strategic guidance and financial decision support for **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. (BSC)’s provider contracting and practice transformation efforts. APS is currently seeking an analyst to support Blue Shield’s value-network and payment reform initiatives. This individual must be a self-starter, possess knowledge of CA healthcare market, and have a strong desire to work on the cutting edge of healthcare payment innovation.
Provide analytic support for critical cross-functional BSC initiatives to optimize its products’ network design and develop value-based payment systems
Extract claims data and construct financial analyses to support the creation, maintenance and optimization of Blue Shield’s high performing and value networks
Leverage healthcare data to identify clinical practices to target with payment innovations and inform alternative payment model designs
Produce analyses and reports of medium to high complexity under the guidance and direction of supervisor or manager under tight deadlines
Participate in internal workgroups and committees that provide analytical insight and support for the implementation and enhancement of new programs, products, and services
Apply appropriate technical, clinical, and financial knowledge to assess the completeness and reliability of data and the validity/accuracy of analytical results ','!*!Minimum Qualification:
BA/BS in economics, statistics, other quantitative social science, public health, health administration or health services research.
1-3 years of experience working in healthcare (e.g. managed care, payer, healthcare provider, hospital system).
Requires ability to use MS Office, esp. Excel and Access, and SQL/PL-SQL, SAS with minimal supervision and support.
Must be able to develop computer programs and scripts using Base SAS and SQL. Must be able to make major modifications to adapt computer programs and scripts developed by others for new applications and purposes.
Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
